Raymond Jenkins - 2013 Student Advisory Council Representative (Alternate)

Biography

Raymond Jenkins was born in Houston, Texas. He moved to Germany at the age of 13 and attended the German Hauptschule until he was 15 years old. During that short period of time, he learned how to speak German. After attending German school, he was home-schooled until he was 16 years old, then he completed his GED and moved back to the USA to attend Lee College in Baytown, Texas. However, he decided to return to Germany only a year later to be with his mother who was diagnosed with cancer. After she successfully survived cancer, he decided that instead of going back to the USA to start school again, he would attend the University of Maryland University College Europe.

Recognizing a desperate need for security in the IT field prompted him to choose cybersecurity as his major. Raymond is now in his final year of college. He plans on receiving the Security+ and A+ certifications in June 2013. He is currently a member of the UMUC Chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines. When Raymond receives his degree in December 2013, he plans on pursuing a career with the federal government. Raymond currently lives in Schweinfurt, Germany.
