Timothy King
Biography:
Timothy King was born in Washington D.C., on November 4, 1979. The majority of his youth and adolescence he spent in Zion, Illinois. After graduating high school in 1997, he enlisted into the U.S. Army at the age of seventeen. Timothy served as an Air Defense Early Warning System Operator/Maintainer (14J), and his duty stations included Ft. Sill, OK; Ft. Bliss, TX; Ft. Riley, KS; and Wackernheim, Germany (McCully Barracks). After four years and eight months of military service, he decided to transition from the military and remained in Germany.
Timothy’s first job after getting out of the military was an entry-level position working for the European Stars & Stripes newspaper company. After a period of a little more than one year, his hard work and determination promoted him within the circulation department to a managerial position with a concentration in serving as a liaison in the Middle East. In this capacity, he was given the responsibility of communicating with facility managers, high-ranking military officials, and civilian counterparts on newspaper operations. Timothy ensured the distribution needs of the troops deployed to regions such as Kuwait and Iraq were adequate and maintained the good will of the European Stars & Stripes.
During the next chapter of his life, Timothy found himself assisting soldiers, civilians, family members, students, and children as a library technician in the Army Europe Library system. It was in this environment that he developed the ability to teach others information literacy and how to effectively use library print and electronic resources. In surrounding himself around highly respected and educated people, he was encouraged to pursue a college education. Timothy’s journey down this educational pathway began in March of 2007, and continues today as he balances the responsibilities of being a full-time worker, full-time student, and a loving father.
