UMUC Europe - Library Access Denied

What should you do if you canít log in to the UMUC online library resources?

Authorized users of the UMUC online library resources are students currently enrolled in UMUC courses, faculty currently teaching UMUC courses, and staff members currently employed by UMUC.

You might not be recognized if:

  1. on the Remote Access page, you entered your first initial and last name.
Solution: Be sure to enter only your last name, not your first initial and last name, in the Enter last name blank.
  2. you entered your number with hyphens or spaces.
solution: For all numbers, do not include any hyphens or spaces.
  3. you did not enter any hyphens or spaces in your last name.
solution: If your last name has any hyphens or spaces, be sure to include them.
  4. you did not enter a ìmodiferî of your last name.
solution:  For example, if your name is John Smith, Jr., you would enter smith jr (no comma, no period) as your last name (also, John Smith III would enter smith iii and John Smith IV would enter smith iv). This field is not case sensitive, so it doesn't matter if you use capital (upper-case) letters or not.
  5. you have recently changed your name.
solution: Until the official change-of-name paperwork you submitted has been processed, you will need to continue using your previous name to access the library databases.
If you have not yet submitted change-of-name paperwork and you need a Notification of Student Name Change form to print out, click here.
  6. you are currently enrolled, but your registration is not yet in the "auto load."
solution: Students are automatically entered as authorized users of the online library databases when their registrations are received and processed in Heidelberg. However, if the Education Center's registration packet has not yet arrived in Heidelberg, you might not be able to log in even if you are currently enrolled. When you get to the Invalid Authorization page, please click on the Login Help link and fill out and submit the UMUC Europe Library Database Access Request.
