General Admission Requirements

Applicants for graduate certificate and master’s degree programs must submit, from a  regionally-accredited, bachelor’s-degree-granting institution, official transcripts indicating a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and completion of the undergraduate program. The completed application for admission must be accompanied by a personal statement and the application fee. The UMUC-Europe Office of Graduate Programs does not require the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) for admission.

In addition, candidates for this program are required to have earned their bachelor’s degree in one of the engineering, physical science, or mathematical disciplines and have substantive practical experience in information technology. Candidates who do not meet these requirements should consult the Program Director.

Admission Categories

A student may be admitted in one of two classifications: degree seeking or decision-pending status. The admission requirements for each classification are explained in the following sections.

Degree Seeking
Degree status is granted to students who wish to pursue a specific degree or certificate program and meet or exceed the general admissions criteria listed above.

Decision-Pending Status
The decision-pending classification is short term and is meant for students who have not yet submitted all supporting documentation (e.g., transcripts) for their application.  Students may enroll in two graduate courses before UMUC-Europe has received the official transcript from the bachelor’s-degree-granting institution.  Students must receive an admission decision before subsequent enrollments.

Readmission
Students who have not enrolled in graduate classes with UMUC-Europe for more than two years must complete a new application for admission and pay another application fee. Students will be evaluated based on the admission requirements in place at the time of readmission.
