CERTIFICATE IN DATABASE SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY

Program Description

Database technology is pervasive in our society and is considered a core component of most businesses. The Certificate in Database Systems Technology focuses on the design, development, and management of database technologies. The primary focus is on relational databases. In addition to basic courses, there is an opportunity to study distributed databases, data warehousing, data mining, database administration, and database security. Laboratory experiences are included in most courses.

Program Objectives

At the completion of this program, students will:

  • Have acquired the fundamentals of database technology.
  • Be able to design, create, and use databases in various arenas such as health care, financial management, security, and business.

Program Overview

The Certificate in Database Systems Technology requires 15 credits of coursework. All courses completed for the certificate can be applied towards the DBST specialization in the Master of Science in Information Technology.
