COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this course the student will complete the requirements for the seminar paper as begun in EDCP 778A (prerequisite). The paper will be either a proposed research project related to the field of counseling or a proposed counseling intervention program designed for a specified population. Additionally, students who are pursuing the Masters of Arts in Counseling will be required to defend their seminar paper before a committee of CAPS faculty.

 

GUIDELINES FOR ASSIGNMENTS

All assignments, including drafts, will be typed and double-spaced according to APA format (1994). Assignments may be submitted in hard copy, on computer diskette in Word format, or attached to email as a Word formatted document.

It is imperative that students realize the process of excellent professional writing is based on sequential planning, continuous feedback, and careful revisions. Consequently the framework and timeline provided must be strictly adhered to. Please plan your schedule carefully so that you do not miss deadlines. The Instructor is available to preview any assignments prior to submission dates but will grant extensions very sparingly and only under verifiable circumstances such as military TDY orders, etc.

Include Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (S.A.S.E). for return correspondence. Assignments and S.A.S.E. may also be hand delivered to the CAPS in Europe Program office in Heidelberg. Feedback and consultation on assignments may be given in person by prior appointment, via telephone or email, or by post.

NO PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY FAX.

17 Nov 2000 --- Outline of Seminar Paper, including each proposed chapter of either research design or intervention program.

15 Dec 2000 --- Draft of Chap 1 & 2

13 Jan 2001 --- Final copies of Chapter 1 & 2.

27 Jan 2001 --- Draft of Chapter 3.

10 Feb 2001 --- Revision of Chap 3 and Draft of Chap 4/5.

20 Feb 2001 ---Final Copy of 4/5 and Draft of Title Page, Abstract, Table of Contents, List of Tables, List of Figures, References, Appendices

Selection of 2nd professor for Oral Defense

26 Feb 2001 --- Final Paper given to 2nd Professor for

Oral Defense (as needed).

01-07 Mar 2001 --- Oral Defense

09 Mar 2001 --- Final copy and cover sheet must be in Grad Office.
