Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in Building 58, down the hall from Navy Federal Credit Union.

To find our location after entering the base and passing through the two inspection points, go straight on and pass the base exchange on the right side and the Souda Terminal on the left side. Building 58 on the left side, nearly at the end of the main street. Guest parking is usually available across the street from Bldg. 58 in the parking lot.

If traveling to Souda Bay and will visit the UMUC office, please contact the field representative at least one week in advance to obtain a base access number.

Computer Labs

Adjacent to the UMUC Europe office is a computer lab with public Internet access. Visitors and Navy personnel are welcome to stop by during office hours for a username and password.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

Souda Bay is a Navy contingency base located on the northern coast of Crete. The island of Crete is located in the northwest portion of the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Crete forms the southern limit of the Cretan Sea. The mission of the Naval Detachment stationed at Souda Bay is to maintain and operate facilities providing base support for U.S. Naval Force operations in the Mediterranean, including transient, temporary and permanently based ships, aircraft, units, detachments, and personnel during normal and contingency operations.

Lodging is available on base at the BOQ. There are several galley dining facilities on post. Entertainment includes a fitness facility, library, movie theater, outdoor swimming pool, and sponsored outdoor recreation activities.
