Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Patton Education Center in Building 106, room 114.

To find our location, please take Autobahn 5 to exit 38-Heidelberg/Schwetzingen. Merge onto B535/L600a toward Heidelberg/Leimen. Once on B535/L600a, you will follow the signs to Heidelberg and continue to follow L600a Speyerer Strasse. (Signs for Patrick Henry Village will appear at the first traffic light and intersection.) Please follow the city signs to Heidelberg Mitte and maintain a straight orientation on Speyerer Strasse (L600a) for about two miles. You will pass through about four traffic lights before you come to the traffic light in front of Patton Barracks, which is located on the right (East) side of Speyerer Strasse with a small, white sign indicating its location. At this intersection you will also notice a large building on the left, which is the Heidelberg City fire department headquarters, and a restaurant on the right, Cabana, which shares the street entrance with Patton Barracks. At this traffic light, turn right and make another immediate right onto the base (Cabana's is on the left). Once you pass through the inspection area, turn left and follow the road around. You will come to a one story brick building on the right side, make a right there (this building contains MWR marketing). Continue following the road around as it veers to the left. At the next stop sign intersection, go straight. Follow the road one block and turn left. The building on the left side is Bldg 106. The education center is located on the ground floor and the UMUC Europe office is located in room 114. Parking is available on the north side the building.

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has 12 computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is accessible Mon-Fri, 0800-1800.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

Patton Barracks is a small Army post with a military police company, a transportation unit, and the Central NATO forces. On post dining includes an Army dining facility and an AAFES Shoppette. There is no lodging available on Patton Barracks, however lodging is available at the Heidelberg Guest House on Patrick Henry Village, about ten minutes drive from Patton Barrakcs, which also has a Burger King, Anthony's Pizza, Village Grille, and Shoppette. Also located nearby is the Heidelberg Shopping Center, where you will find the PX, PowerZone, and AAFES food court, which includes a Taco Bell, Anthony's Pizza, Burger King, Popeyes, and a typical kebab stand.
