Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Kapaun Education Center in Building 2784, room 105.

To find our location, please take Autobahn 6 until the Kaiserslautern/West Pirmasens/Opel exit. Take the second exit from the exit ramp and it will merge onto the German Federal Highway B270 leading toward the base. Remain straight on this road as you drive underneath the A6 and the road merges from two lanes into one lane. You will pass over a bridge and at the end of the bridge take an immediate right off the priority road (B270), down an exit ramp (a white, base sign for "Pulaski Barracks" will be posted at the exit). At the end of the exit ramp, merge right onto the B40 and drive straight on this road. The Vogelweh shopping center and base is viewable on the left side of the road. Continue straight through the first traffic light. Continue driving straight until you see a McDonald's sign on the right side of the road and a sign for Puloski Barracks. Turn left at the sign and McDonald's will be on the right side of the street. After one block, you will come to a "T" intersection. Turn left at the "T" intersection and drive to the front gate of the military installation Pulaski Baracks. After you pass through the front gate and inspection area, continue driving straight. At the "T" intersection and stop sign, go right. You will immediately come to a traffic circle. Take the second exit in the traffic circle and proceed up a hill. Follow the hill as it curves around to the right. At the next "T" intersection, you must turn right with the priority road, as the street straight ahead is a one-way street. There is a large parking area on the left side of road. Park in this area and Bldg 2784 is in front of the parking area (The Child Development Center is across the street fromt he parking area and street parking is reserved for the CDC).

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has eleven computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computers are accessible from Mon-Fri, 0830-1630.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

Kapaun Air Station is located within the greater Kaiserslautern military community and shares a gated community with the Army base of Pulaski Barracks and the Vogelweh Air Base. Located on Vogelweh/Pulaski/Kapaun is a commissary, Burger King, Popeyes, food court with Taco Bell, Robinhood's Subs, and Cheese Steak Charly's, a Subway and fast food kiosk are available in the bowling alley, and a Shoppette with a gas station. Lodging is available at the Vogelweh Inn and entertainment on base includes a movie theater, bowling alley, library, and fitness center.
