Directions and Parking
The UMUC office is located in the SHAPE Education Center, Building 212, room 119.
To find our location driving from Germany, please take Autobahn 62 toward Trier. Watch for the road signs for Luxembourg and follow them. This will put you onto the German Federal Highway 51 toward Bitburg. Highway 51 becomes the A48 toward Luxembourg. As you near Luxembourg City merge onto the A-4/E411 toward Brussels. About halfway to Namur, the E25 Autobahn will split off into the A-4/E411 in the direction of Bastogne and Liege. Remainstraight on the E411 Namur/Brussels until you come to the junction of the E411 with the E42. Exit onto the E42 west toward Charleroi/Mons/Paris. Remain on the E42 until you come to the SHAPE exit. Be careful at the end of the exit ramp and look completely to the left before turning. Continue straight on the road through the small village of Maisieres and up a hill. At the top of the hill you will see a fence on the left and then a gate, that is the SHAPE base. Upon entering the front gate and passing through the inspection point, make the first left turn and remain driving straight on. At the end of this road, turn left. The building on the right side, Bldg 212, is the SHAPE Education Center. Parking is available in front of the building.
Computer Labs
The UMUC sponsored computer lab has nine computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is accessible Mon-Fri, 0900-1700.

Testing Services
Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.
UMUC also offers a National Test Center (NTC) at this location featuring exams and certifications in a wide variety of subject areas, on-site support, easy scheduling, and the benefit of instant score results. Available exams include College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), Pearson VUE, and Excelsior College exams.

Additional Site Information
The SHAPE base is a NATO base, therefore the SHAPE education center serves the multi-national communities of SHAPE and Chievres Air Base. Activities on base include a fitness center, movie theater, bowling alley, bookstore, and a shopping center. There is one hotel located outside of the front gate (Best Western) and a US military lodge at Chievres Air Base (located 30 minutes from SHAPE). The nearest city is Mons, about a 20 minute drive from SHAPE and it provides multiple restaurants, shops, and lodging opportunities. There is no ability to use ESSO gas coupons in Belgium. You must pay for fuel at pump, so it is recommended you top off fuel before crossing the border.
