Thank you for your interest in our Summer Book Award. Unfortunately, due to high demand, funding is no longer available. However, additional finanacial assistance for the 2009-2010 academic year--including scholarships and grants--is still available. Furthermore, UMUC Europe is proud to announce the availability of up to $6,000 of financial assistance for military spouses through the MyCAA program. Since its founding in 1947, UMUC has shown a commitment to providing military servicemembers with access to a quality higher education. Through the $100 Military Textbook Award, active-duty servicemembers attending UMUC Stateside, Europe and Asia can apply to receive a $100 award to help pay for UMUC textbooks. Both new and current students are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

Enlisted active-duty servicemember of the U.S. military
Minimum 2.0 GPA at UMUC (undergraduate students)
The minimum GPA is waived for students new to UMUC
Minimum 3.0 GPA at UMUC (graduate students)
Enrolled in one or more credits for Summer 2009 Session 1.

Awards will be available for Summer 2009 through July 20, 2009. Students can receive one award per semester. It is simple to apply by using the online form.

How to Use the Award

The UMUC Office of DOD Relations will confirm receipt of your application with an auto e-mail response. A UMUC Europe representative will also send you an award confirmation e-mail. Your $100 award will be posted to your student account after confirmation of eligibility has been established.

On-site Course: If you are enrolling in an on-site course, you may purchase your book from a UMUC field representative at the education center. A copy of the award confirmation MUST be presented to the field representative at the time of book purchase. After the $100 book award is deducted, you may then pay any remaining amount of the cost of the book.

DE Online Course: If you are enrolling in a DE course, you will complete the online DE Textbook Order Form available at https://www.ed.umuc.edu/de/textbook/textorder.html.

You may redeem the award in one of two ways:

If you select the "Consign to Education Center" delivery option, you will redeem the award with your local field representative and pay any remaining cost if applicable. A copy of the award confirmation MUST be presented to the field representative at the time of book purchase.
If you select the "Direct Shipment" option, please indicate on the form that you are a Military Textbook Award recipient. The Textbook Office will deduct the $100 award amount and, if applicable, any remaining fees will be charged to your credit card.
