Tax Information: FAQ
When will I receive my IRS Form 1098-T?
The UMUC stateside campus in Adelphi will have the IRS Form 1098-T for the prior tax year available on or before 31 January 2013. If you have signed up to access the 1098-T form electronically, you will receive and e-mail with instructions on how to access your document electronically when the form is ready. No paper form will be mailed to you.
If you have not signed up to access the 1098-T form electronically, a paper form will be mailed to the address listed in your MyUMUC student portal. Click here for instructions on how to verify if your permanent address is current in MyUMUC.
How do I sign up to access the 1098-T form electronically?
If you would like electronic access to your 1098-T statement, you must provide your consent by 12 January 2013 here: www.ecsi.net/gateway/1098t-signup.html?school=OV. You will need to provide your student ID and the e-mail address where you currently receive correspondence from UMUC.
What if I do not receive my 1098-T form?
If you have not received the 1098-T by 15 February or have questions concerning your tax form, contact UMUC in Adelphi at email@example.com or call 1-800-888-UMUC.
What do I do with the 1098-T form that I received from UMUC?
Keep it with your tax information. It is not recommended to send Form 1098-T to the IRS with your Form 1040/1040A. The IRS has been furnished the appropriate information regarding your attendance with UMUC.
Why is UMUC providing the 1098-T form for students?
The form is provided because certain education tax credits exist for tuition and fees paid by the taxpayer. This document gives a summary of your tuition, fees, and financial aid during your enrollment at UMUC.
