Ceremony

UMUC Europe will hold its 57th annual commencement exercises at 2 p.m., May 9 in the Village Pavilion at Patrick Henry Village in Heidelberg, Germany. The ceremony honors more than 1500 graduates from across Europe and the Middle East who earned associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree with University of Maryland University College or with its partner institution, Bowie State University.

UMUC is proud to announce its guest speaker: Norman Augustine, retired chairman and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Location and Security

All events on Saturday will take place in the Village Pavilion. Public parking is available directly adjacent to this facility. To locate the Village Pavilion with a navigation system, use the address North Lexington Avenue, 69124 Heidelberg.

Due to the present level of security on U.S. military installations in Europe, all persons without valid identification cards (U.S. military, CAC, DOD) must complete the security questionnaire located in MyUMUC under student announcements.

Please note: If security information is not received by March 16, graduates and guests who do not have a valid military ID card will not be on the installation access roster. These individuals may be refused access to Patrick Henry Village.

Student Check-In (0900-1200)

Student check-in is mandatory and will be held in the Village Pavilion. Please check-in no later than 1200.

UMUC Gear (0830-1345)

UMUC gear will be sold in the front lobby of the Village Pavilion.

Line-up (1230)

All graduates will gather for the line-up and final roll call. Please follow the signs and gather in the areas designated for your degree. Guests may not accompany graduates to the line-up.

Pre-processional (1355)

The student marshals will lead graduates to the lobby of the Village Pavilion and prepare for the processional.

Processional (1400)

The processional begins. The graduates march into the Village Pavilion Ballroom first, followed by UMUC Europe faculty and officials.

Post-Commencement Reception

All graduates and guests are invited to the reception in the Village Pavilion immediately following the ceremony.

Length of Ceremony

The anticipated length of the ceremony is approximately three hours.
